Studio MCL

Studio MCL is the library’s Technology Lab, located on the top floor. Studio MCL offers seating for up to 14 people and it’s home to several pieces of technology and makerspace equipment. You or your group can reserve the space anytime!

Equipment Available

Glowforge 3D Laser Printer

The Glowforge uses a laser to cut, etch, and score your designs (or designs available from the Glowforge community) onto a huge number of materials, like wood, acrylic, leather, and more!

MakerBot 3D Printers

Use Makerbot Replicator 3D Printers to envision, design, and create your own projects, and take advantage of 3Doodler 3D Drawing Pens to create your masterpiece.

Cricut Explorer

Take advantage of Studio MCL’s 3 Cricut Explorer devices and associated design software to design and create projects using materials like vinyl, iron-on, cardstock, and more!

Heat Press

Use the Cricut to create your design, then use our Heat Press to apply that design to anything from T-Shirts to coffee mugs and beyond!

Photo and Video Cameras

Studio MCL offers access to digital cameras, useful for still photography or shooting video, along with ring lights, a green screen, and more. Grab your footage, then take advantage of software such as Wondershare Filmora, Corel Aftershot, and more to create your projects!

Podcast Booth and Audio Equipment

Use desktop microphones, handheld audio recorders, and a full Podcast setup to create your perfect soundscape!

Poster Printer

Design a poster layout, then bring it to life using the Marion Carnegie Library’s 24″ color poster printer!

Coding Gadgets

Practice your coding using computer software and hardware resources like Sphero coding robots and Osmo tablet kits.

Sewing Machines

Use Studio MCL’s Brother CS7000X sewing machines to brush up on your sewing skills, create new items, or mend old ones.

Digital Art Equipment

Plug a Wacom Intous drawing tablet into a Studio MCL laptop and unlock your inner virtual Van Gogh!

Using Studio MCL

  • A signed Studio MCL Use Agreement and Liability for Use Form acknowledging the user guidelines must be on file at Marion Carnegie Library before a maker is allowed the use of the equipment. Forms are available at every MCL circulation desk.
  • There is a limit of one reservation per person or group per week.
  • Reservations may be made up to one week in advance via the Book a Meeting Room form, by phone, or in person.
  • Studio MCL users are expected to monitor their projects at all times. Do not leave Studio MCL equipment unattended.
