In 2023, Marion Carnegie Library’s annual Summer Reading program is “Marion Reads!”, and we can’t wait to share it with the Marion community. The library is thrilled to offer Marion area residents the opportunity to build – and build on – learning habits and community relationships. We’d absolutely love your help in doing so.

The 2023 Summer Reading program kicks off soon, starting May 19 and wrapping up June 30. It’s designed to encourage literacy development and retention through engaging activities. Each department in our library has planned programming that’s educational, recreational, and informational, all of which provide fun-filled ways for community members to spend the summer. All of the library’s programs and activities are always free and open to the public.

During MCL’s Summer Reading program in 2022, nearly 600 community members of all ages registered for Summer Reading challenges, nearly 200 Marion residents registered for new library cards, and over 3,300 people from all over Southern Illinois attended Summer Reading program events in person at the library and at other locations around Marion.

With your generosity, Marion Carnegie Library can offer dozens of high-quality programs that will engage and inspire the community during each Summer Reading program period. Attached, you’ll find a list of this year’s program sponsorship levels. If you wish to contribute, please complete the attached form or contact Keith Robinson, Marion Carnegie Library’s Coordinator of Library Services by phone at (618) 993-5935 or by email at krobinson@marioncarnegielibrary.org. Of course, any donation, large or small, makes a huge impact! And remember – these events would not be possible without your support.

Thank you for all that you do for our library and for our community, and thank you for your consideration and generosity.

Sincerely,
Keith Robinson
Coordinator of Library Services
