Marion Carnegie Library’s annual Summer Reading program is approaching, and we’d love your help! Summer Reading is the library’s biggest program of the year, and 2022 will be no different. This year’s program theme is “Read Beyond the Beaten Path”, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with the Marion community.
The Summer Reading program is designed to encourage literacy development and retention through engaging activities. Each department in our library has planned educational, recreational, and informational programs that create a fun-filled way to spend the summer. Reading programs also strengthen community bonds through interaction and communication. All our programs and activities are always free and open to the public.
We are consistently blown away by the amount of community interest, attendance, and participation in our Summer Reading events. Traditionally, the library has upward of 600 Summer Reading challenge participants, thousands of visitors, and tens of thousands of books read! Even in Summer 2020 – during the peak of the pandemic – over 300 community members, including children, teens, and adults, registered for Marion Carnegie Library’s Summer Reading program reading challenges. In 2021, registration climbed back to over 550, with many more community members who attended Summer Reading program events in-person at the library, and around Marion.
With your generosity, Marion Carnegie Library can offer dozens of high-quality programs that will engage and inspire the community during each Summer Reading program period. If you wish to contribute, please complete the form at the bottom of this page or contact Keith Robinson, Marion Carnegie Library’s Coordinator of Library Services at (618) 993-5935 or at krobinson@marioncarnegielibrary.org. Of course, any donation – large or small – makes a huge impact! And remember – these events would not be possible without your support.
Thank you for all that you do for our library and for our community, and thank you for your consideration and generosity.
Sincerely,
Keith Robinson
